Mi’kmaw & Indigenous Art on the Halifax Waterfront

Pjila’si / Welcome

A retail store display with various colored t-shirts hanging on a rack, featuring 'KJIPUTUK HALIFAX NS' logos, a mannequin head with sunglasses on a wire shelf, and a seating area with tables and chairs near large windows.

Sitamuk (seet-ah-mook) ‘on the water’ is a social enterprise project developed by the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre, where Mi’kmaw and Indigenous art and crafts are shared and traded in a good way, providing economic opportunity while reinstating the presence of Mi’kmaq and Indigenous culture on our lands of Kjipuktuk (Halifax).

Sitamuk is not only a place for Indigenous crafters and their work to reach those exploring Kjipuktuk but an opportunity to promote Mi’kmaq culture to all visitors! Visit to explore a variety of crafts, artwork, books, gifts, and more that reflect the creativity and passion from Mi’kmaw communities, makers and artists from across Mi’kma’ki.

Find us on the Halifax Waterfront by our neighbours Beaver Tails and the Salt Yard, across from Harbour Watercraft Tours & Adventures!
